| Frequently Asked Questions |
|
|
 |
Q : Do you rent or sell edited movies?
A : We do NOT rent nor sell edited movies. All movies purchased on our website are the original DVDs. However, we offer a FREE edited backup copy of any DVD movie purchased through us.
Q : Why do I have to adhere to an agreement to buy a movie?
A : The Terms and Conditions of Use agreement gives us your authorization to create a backup copy for your purchase. It also explains the laws and restrictions associated with owning a backup copy. For more details, please see our Terms and Conditions of Use.
Q : Why can't I buy and/or rent the backup DVD if I already own the original?
A : The US federal courts have ruled that this is in violation with established copyright laws. Instead, we offer to create an edited backup copy of any movie purchased through us for FREE.
Q : How long is processing and shipping?
A : Shipping and Handling fee is $6.95 for the first DVD and $1.95 for each additional DVD. Standard Shipping has an estimated delivery within 3-4 weeks. We do not ship internationally; we do not ship to military locations (APO / FPO). Family Edited DVDs makes no guarantee on a specific date of delivery. You will receive an e-mail updating you on the status of your order when it has shipped. Family Edited DVDs shall not be liable or deemed to be responsible for any delay, damage, or lost of any packages through postal service since this is beyond our reasonable control.
Q : What standards are used when editing DVDs?
A : Regardless of the movie's rating by the MPAA, Family Edited DVDs removes nudity and sexual content, vulgarity and profanities, as well as excessive violence and gore. We aim to make the archival backups family-friendly so that do not contain offensive content. We only use the widescreen format to keep the true aspect ratio of the original movie. IMPORTANT: Although edited for content, Edited DVDs may contain subject matter inappropriate for some viewers. Please use discretion.
Q : Do you ever miss a swear word?
A : We use both closed captions and subtitles to verify language and remove 99% of vulgar language. Due to the amount of content and profanity in some movies and the volume and intensity of a scene, some words may be missed. Family Edited Movies makes no guarantee that every instance of objectionable content will be edited out in the backup movie.
Q : Will the edited backup DVDs offer the same features as the original?
A : While our edited DVDs offer superior picture quality, we do not provide a service to edit the "extra" features that are included on the original DVD. The edited archival backup only includes the edited version of the original DVD movies.
Q : Will the backup edited DVDs play in my DVD player?
A : Most new DVD players are capable of playing movies recordable media. The edited video backup is burned onto a DVD-R, which is playable on most stand-alone DVD players that are DVD-R compatible. The edited archival backup is region-free and can be played on DVD players manufactured in any country. Some DVD players have a hard time reading the DVDs. This is rare and usually only happens with older DVD players. There are certain known compatibility issues with DVD-writable media and select DVD players. If your DVD Player is not DVD-R compatible, you may experience problems playing the edited DVDs such as skipping, freezing, picture distortion, or other glitches. We do not guarantee that the edited DVDs will play in all DVD players. If you are still not sure about your DVD player's performance, please consult your DVD owner's manual or contact the manufacturer.
Q : Do you provide backup edited movies for Blu-Ray or High Definition DVDs?
A : We currently do not provide edits for Blu-Ray or High Definition DVDs at this time, although we are considering doing so in the future.
